Performs chemical, microbiological, micro-analytical, physical and sensory evaluation, shelf life, package testing, and process development of food and food products in relation to its suitability for export marketing and for the local industry.

Provides analytical services for Research and Development (R&D) projects such as chemical, microbiological, micro-analytical, physical and sensory evaluation, shelf life and package testing. Develops and validates testing methods and participates in international proficiency testing.

Conducts research to establish technically relevant and internationally acceptable standards for traditional foods. Evaluates the industry problems related to the chemical, microbiological and microanalytical properties of food products.

Develops food packaging systems and evaluates product labels for the international and domestic markets.

Provides technical services in the establishment of thermal processes of canned food products. Assists industry customers in registering, processing and filing requirements for products exported abroad.

Conducts actual and accelerated shelf-life testing of various food products.
